Voices from the Field with Jonathan Vander Els: Ryan McCluskey and Jill Lizier Revisited

In this follow-up podcast, we are again joined by Ryan McCluskey and Jill Lizier from Memorial School, an elementary school in Newton, NH, part of the Sanborn Regional School District. Ryan is the principal, and Jill is the assistant principal and special education coordinator.

In this, our second conversation, Ryan and Jill provide an update as to where their school is, and the incredible work their “superhero” teachers are engaging in. Jill also delves into their work in the special education department, as they collaborate to meet the needs of their students. Ryan and Jill also share their thinking on managing the current crisis in their school, while still planning forward for next year, and the importance of essential learning targets or standards to focus the work of their teachers and teams as they continue with distance learning.

Mr. McCluskey and Ms. Lizier also share how their foundational work with CARES, their non-academic skills of cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-regulation have transferred into the online environment.
